The Alpha InTEC 30C expansion vessel is a device to handle the expansion of water in a heating system or hot water system due to increases in temperature. When water rises in temperature this expands, particularly when it is kept under pressure such as in a sealed heating system or an unvented hot water cylinder. Expansion tanks typically contain a cylinder or disc which is divided inside into two compartments separated with a rubber sheet, known as the diaphragm. Inside the expansion tanks there is water on one side of the diaphragm and air or an inert gas such as nitrogen under pressure on the other side.
